Inventors, Get Inventing

These products and ads don't really exist...but they should. Click on images for original sources...

Evil Dead Lincoln-Log Playset

There was a noble attempt to get LEGO to produce this. Alas, it was deemed there wasn't enough of a market for it. Firefly gets screwed again.

How cool would this be?

If 1950s America were populated by vampires...

If only...

There are claims that this is a real vintage ad but seeing as it makes no sense, I somehow doubt it. I'd like to think it's the handiwork of some creative Futurama fan.

You can buy the poster but what we really need are the robots themselves. For protection against zombies. Really.

And my personal favourite--how I wish these existed.

In Stitches Pt 2

In my last post I shared some awesome geeky needlepoint. So this time I thought I'd offer up my latest obsession: amigurumi aka super cute crochet goodness. Click on the photos to go to the original source and enjoy (try not to squee too hard).

Proving that bow ties are cute as well as cool (click on the photo to see all eleven Doctors)

Gnome! And a free pattern too (personal use only)

Link seeks to save the yarn princess (and another free pattern)

As seen on TV (the doll too). And yes--another pattern! Crocheters are a generous bunch.

Cleaning Up

Ever look at a plain bar of soap and think 'this could be awesomer'? Me neither, but now that I see what can be done I have to wonder why I've wasted so much time using boring old rectangles. Click on photos for more info.

(Btw, the descriptions of the products alone are worth checking out.)

Everything is better in TARDIS form:

Soap Invaders:

Yes, but are they stackable?

I am Jack's soap:

Freeze date included:

You will be assimilated (but at least you'll be clean):

The Alliance know how to make a damn fine bar of soap:

Not Mandatory!

Of all the Firefly/Serenity merchandise out there, this Fruity Oaty bobblehead trio has to be my favourite. Found here.

And what's this Fruity Oaty thing all about, you ask? It's the catalyst for a pivotal scene in Serenity, a movie that--if you haven't already seen it--must be watched (but only after you watch the one-season TV series Firefly, which you should do immediately). You'll thank me (cash gifts are also acceptable).

Now enjoy the Fruity Oaty Bar ad in all its surreal glory:

The Man They Call Jayne...

I'm a huge Jayne fan and "Jaynestown" is probably my favourite Firefly episode, so you can guess how much I covet this shirt.

You can find it here.

I'll leave you with the lyrics for "The Ballad of Jayne"...

The Ballad of Jayne

Jayne, the man they call Jayne

He robbed from the rich
And he gave to the poor
Stood up to the man
And gave him what for
Our love for him now
Ain't hard to explain
The hero of Canton
The man they call Jayne

Our Jayne saw the mudders' backs breakin'
He saw the mudders' lament
And he saw the magistrate takin'
Every dollar and leavin' five cents
So he said "you can't do that to my people"
He said "you can't crush them under your heel"
So Jayne strapped on his hat
And in 5 seconds flat
Stole everythin' Boss Higgins had to steal

He robbed from the rich
And he gave to the poor
Stood up to the man
And gave him what for
Our love for him now
Ain't hard to explain
The hero of Canton
The man they call Jayne

Now here is what separates heroes
From common folk like you and I
The man they call Jayne
He turned 'round his plane
And let that money hit sky
He dropped it onto our houses
He dropped it into our yards
The man they called Jayne
He stole away our pain
And headed out for the stars

He robbed from the rich
And he gave to the poor
Stood up to the man
And gave him what for
Our love for him now
Ain't hard to explain
The hero of Canton
The man they call Jayne.

Curse Your Sudden but Inevitable Betrayal!

Wash: Everything looks good from here... (beat...playing with plastic dinosaurs over his console) Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive.

(as Stegosaurus): We will rule over all this land, and we will call it...'This Land.'

(as T-Rex): I think we should call it...your grave!

(Stegosaurus): Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

(T-Rex): Ha ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh...now die!

Gods, I love that show.

Shirt found at Quantum Mechanix.
