You may have noticed...

The eagle eyed among you may have noticed I haven't posted here for a while. Okay, a really long while (sorry about that). I thought I'd make it official: Geek Grrrl is officially retired. The site will stay up so you can always check out past posts. But don't despair: I'm still posting on Whimsy Bower (including geeky goodness) and on Blood Lines (work/writing/vampire-related). Thanks for everything--see you around :)

2022 UPDATE: Check out my official website: AspasiaSBissas.com! Plenty of geeky goodness, and some free books too...

(PS: I'm also currently updating and improving my other blogs: Whimsy Bower and  Blood Lines)

Vintage Illustrations of What Life Would Be Like on Other Planets

If you're of a certain age, you'll remember being regaled with fun and wacky theories of what life would be like in the year 2000 (flying cars! Meals in pill form!) Well, back in 1939, artist Frank R. Paul imagined what life would be like on other planets. It might be easy to laugh at now, but he clearly put a lot of thought (based on the scientific knowledge at the time) into his theories. Star Wars Toys that Never Were

These toys never made it past the concept stage. For the most part that's probably a good thing but some of these I definitely would like to have seen!

Also dispenses the light and dark sides of the force.

Sorry--it only looks like a droid.

Not only can it destroy planets but it gives you game too!

Does anyone really want to see what's inside Vader? (Suddenly I hear Nelson from the Simpsons saying "blood...and guts...and black stuff...")

Warning: Do not ingest carbonite!

Although I do like the carbonite popsicle molds, I think the Yoda backpack is my favourite. And whaddya know--somebody actually did go ahead and make it:

People online come up with some wacky ideas. This one is going around at the moment: take a picture of yourself with your head in a freezer, upload it to a photo site, and tag it with the number in the title above. Why? So that people can search for the number on google images and come up with a bunch of photos of people sticking their heads into freezers. Like I said--wacky. But there are a few fun and creative variations on the theme, this one being my favourite:

Although, I'd be a lot happier if the original poster knew the difference between "your" and "you're." Doing it wrong indeed.

As evil as the Abnormal Drug Trafficker is, the real criminal here is the person who opened the package!
